Wrote... Hi, how are you? Could you help me? There is a 86 mile river called the Blackstone Canal that passes through Rhode Island. The current is somewhat strong. Lately the canal has been producing large pike. How do I fish in a canal/river with such a current? Would you fish in front of an eddy? I'm use to fishing in a pond, but lately stories and pictures coming from this canal are driving me to fish it. But how? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Nice website! Wrote... I like all kinds of fishing. I usually go saltwater fishing a couple of times a year. Just bought a bass boat. 19' 200hp 2000 Stratos, nice boat. I like to fish for bass. I'm just getting into fishing for pike and would like to fish for muskie. So far I've only caught small pike. Doing allot of studying on how to find and catch the big boys. I like fishing for big fish. The saltwater fishing has got me hooked on big fish. My fishing goals are to catch a 1000 lb marlin, 300 lb tuna, 10 lb bass, 20 lb pike, 30 lb muskie to name a few.

Wrote... YO Essox types, I entered a derby on Saturday and caught 6 pike up to 25 inches. On Monday I went fishing again and caught a 36 incher, if caught on sat would of won 200 bucks, oh well. Kept her and made some fish and chips. I am interested in researching the correlation between fish size and bait. My theory goes you want a bait one third the size of the fish your after. So i am usually using 8 " baits however the big Pike i took yesterday hit a 4" smelt, i am gonna try 10 -12 " bait soon. The reason for the study stems from the min size limit we have here which is 63 cm. Plus i don't like catching hamer handles. People say Ice fishing is boring but unique scenery, big pike, and few people make it worth it.
