I was looking for pictures to use in a musky article written by Tim Mead for the home page when I came across this picture.

Tim was in the process of unhooking the musky when the fish made a sudden movement and caught Tim's thumb on a tooth or across a hook. The result was that Tim was sliced open pretty good. Tim was dripping blood all over the boat, his pants, etc. Fortunately, we had the necessary equipment in the boat to tend to the injury and we could continue to fish.

The tip is that EVERYBODY should carry a few medical supplies with them as it can make a difference between having a problem versus an emergency. I carry the following as a minimum:

    Gauze 4 X 4's
    Medical Tape
    Bandages (smaller wounds)
    Antiseptic creme
    Aspirin

A small Tupperware container or a ziplock plastic bag keeps everything dry and together and doesn't take up much space.

Hi
Fishing is "extreme" sport. In this sport can be happen, for example: I hurt my hand when I am geting up the pike
Good idea, maybe be: special glove with "kevlar" and
I am (in Poland) useing hooks which hasn't spikes.
This two tips cause than pikes come back to water fast, it is healthy and stong. And we can catch again in future

i`ve been told that super glue was originally designed for closing wounds etc, which is why it sticks skin so well when spilt

There are several products like glue that are used in the States. One is called "New Skin" and I believe the other is "Liquid Bandage" or something like that. These are unfortunately not very effective on wounds that are bleeding a lot, but it is great for scratches and small cuts that come from gill rakers (if you get your hand in the wrong place).
